Four Soldiers Killed While Trying to Repel ISWAP Fighters at Military Base in Borno

At least four Nigerian soldiers have been killed by terrorists from the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Ngamdu, Borno State.

The incident happened on Tuesday while the soldiers were trying to repel the terrorists. The border town lies between Borno’s border with Yobe State.

An officer was shot by terrorists and rushed to a military medical facility; he is recuperating.

While the troops were engaging the fighters in their armoured vehicle and gun trucks, some snuck into Super Camp military base.

The attackers then shot sporadically, hitting the injured officer who led the troops.

“Unfortunately, four soldiers shot by the terrorists died. The officer who attempted to protect them sustained injuries but is in a stable condition”, a military source told PRNigeria.

The soldiers eventually repelled the attack with aerial support by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
